Zips basketball: Tecca recognized for charitable works

By George Thomas Published: December 4, 2013

From a news release:

Akron Zips basketball forward Rachel Tecca has been nominated for the 2014 Allstate WBCA Good Works Team.

For the second year, Allstate and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) are recognizing a select group of women’s college basketball student-athletes who stand out for their charitable achievements and community involvement. The players nominated for this prestigious honor are committed to enriching the lives of others while contributing to the greater good of their communities.

Tecca works serving hot meals at churches to the less fortunate, with Special Olympics with its state bowling tournament and with school reading and pen pal programs to help children improve grammar and handwriting skills.

The list of 84 nominees will be trimmed to 10 – comprised of five Division I players and five from Division II,  III and NAIA.
