Zips cannot complete comeback against Hurricanes
Men's basketball
Akron rebounded from an awful first half to make it competitive against Miami, but the Hurricanes left Las Vegas with a 69-61 win to end the tournament.
Brett McKnight scored 20, but the Zips had an 18-point hole to climb after the first half. He scored 14 straight for the Zips during a 16-0 run.
Miami center Reggie Johnson scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds; his production generally kept Akron farther than an arm's length away.
Alex Abreu was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Zips return home for a Wednesday game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
