Akron is heavily favored again to win tonight's game against Eastern Michigan at Rhodes Arena. The line is Akron minus 13.
Other news/notes:
The series is tied 17-17, but Akron has won the last seven, according to
Tom Gaffney wrote a fascinating story about Steve McNees and his relationship with his father Bill, who coached him four years at Shenango High School in Pennsylvania.
Despite the 2-5 conference record, 10-10 is the best record EMU has had in seven years, according to
Akron's Bracketbuster opponent will be announced at 6:30 p.m. Rick McFadden told me the coaches believe Akron has a good chance to land a TV game.

Akron locked up three new recruits:
Keith Sconiers, as I mentioned last week, visited campus and decided to commit to Akron, according to a public relations volunteer at Richards High School in Illinois, where Sconiers attends. Three Zips coaches visited Richards High School in the past week, so you can see that the 6-foot-3 three-star receiver was a key recruit for Rob Ianello.
Giorgio Bowers, a three-star running back (also from Illinois), also committed this weekend, after de-committing from Northern Illinois. He chose Akron after visiting the campus and being wowed by the facilities. Bowers' highlight video shows a determined runner who does not go down on first contact.
The third recruit is an Ohio cornerback, the state's 14th best at that position, according to Carl Washington, a 5-10 Columbus product, committed to Akron over the weekend. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds.
Also, Gaffney confirms that Ohio's two-time Mr. Football, Erick Howard, will sign with Akron. He had verbally committed to the Zips, then began to consider Toledo. The question now becomes: Will he qualify for grades? And if not, will he remain with the program once he does?
