Day four of Akron Zips fall camp livened up just a little bit as the players look acclimated to being back in training.
Defensive lineman Moses McCray, a senior transfer from Florida State, finished the day with his forehead bandaged. He is business on the field from what could be seen in drills, but when a play is over, it’s over. He looks to be able to turn the intensity on and off.
McCray and teammate Quaison Osborne got into scraps a couple of times during those drills. If the intensity of both translates to the field, they will be fun to watch.
Who stood out today:
The quarterback competition will be interesting and close as sophomore and presumed starter Kyle Pohl and transfer Nick Hirschman, a senior with two years of eligibility left, both at times looked impressive.
Although the defense showed susceptibility to the big play, something that drives coach Chuck Amato to distraction, some individuals on that unit made an impression in drills and in 11-on-11s.
