Zips football: Four possible national games on schedule

By George Thomas Published: February 28, 2014

It could be that the University of Akron football team is earning some modicum of respect.

The Mid-American Conference released next fall's schedule Friday afternoon and the Zips have the potential to play four nationally televised games on the ESPN family of networks.

“Considering how we ended last season, we are very excited about 2014,” Bowden said. “When you get your new schedule, it makes the upcoming season real. Our players are in the middle of off-season conditioning and spring practice is just a couple weeks away, so today's announcement provides motivation for all of us. Each game will present a challenge and we are excited for the opportunity to play on national TV several times.”

#ESPN Multiple-Game Selection Date (an ESPN weekday multiple-game selection date will be announced 12 days prior to the listed date.  One (1) game will be selected by each ESPN service listed).
