By George Thomas Published: March 21, 2013

The VCU Rams used a 17-3 run in the first half to take a 21-9 lead on the Akron Zips and from there never looked back as they beat UA 88-42 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Troy Daniels led the Rams with 23 points and five rebound and Juvonte Reddic followed him with 21 points and six points to lead the Rams. Demetrius Treadwell led the way for the Zips with 15 points and seven rebounds.

The Rams defense – nicknamed havoc – forced 22 Zips turnovers, including XX steals, that the Rams used to turn the game into a rout.

It’s the worst Zips loss since Feb. 10, 1996 when they lost 99-50 to the Miami Redhawks.
