Zips men's basketball: Dambrot's Creighton dissection

Coach Keith Dambrot has performed a dissection on the Creighton loss and come up with a couple of things:

He will be the first to admit Zips team didn’t have any consistency in its game against the Creighton Bluejays, one that got away from them beginning at approximately seventeen-minute mark of the first half.   He also learned a couple of other things:

“One thing it reiterates what we already knew.  At any sport at any championship level, you have to play well defensively.   That's what we built the program on and we weren't very good defensively,” he said.

The reality is that the Zips defense has been spotty the past two games.  You may be able to do spotty against Middle Tennessee State (a win), but you can’t be against a nationally ranked team such as the Bluejays (a loss).

“We showed the ability to throw the ball inside and that's a good thing,” he said.

Center Zeke Marshall showed up offensively, but had defensive issues.  He had the two blocked shots early in the game, but finished with just two rebounds.  To say he was un-Zeke-like would be wouldn’t be an overstatement.
