Zips men's soccer team in Sports Illustrated
The University of Akron men's soccer team is mentioned in this week's Sports Illustrated on page 35 in the "For the Record" section of the magazine.
The brief story mentions the Zips 1-0 victory over Louisville in the NCAA College Cup on Sunday in Santa Barbara, Calif. There is a photo with the story, that includes the goal by Scott Caldwell in the 79th minute and the shutout in net by goalkeeper David Meves. It is interesting to note, that they did not mention Chad Barson, who made the key save in the final minute.
The SI, dated Dec. 20, features a photo of actors Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale on the cover. Wahlberg and Bale star in a new boxing film, The Fighter.
As many of you know by now, there are a lot of stories on the Internet about the Zips winning the national title. You can find articles by the Associated Press, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Canton Repository and obviously the Akron Beacon Journal.
Also, there will be more UA men's soccer videos that will appear on this blog within the next few weeks.
