Men's basketball
Akron had an easy game, and they did what they needed to, beating Buffalo, 75-61.
I can't add too much to the discussion about this game. I was busy putting the Buchtelite together while it was going on.
Cedrick Middleton, Dru Joyce, Romeo Travis and Nick Dials had big games.
You can find our story on page B4 tomorrow. Or you can read Michael Beaven's story by clicking here.
Mike Hixenbaugh also previewed the Kent State/Akron game.
I hated to see Kent State go into Athens and beat Ohio 73-60. Kent State remains tied with Akron at 9-1 in the MAC.
I've realized something: Ohio and its fans are nothing more than Ohio State's bastard brother. None of the talent or accomplishments, all of the cocky attitude.
Football
As you know, Akron cleaned house this year in recruiting. I wrote about Sean Hakes and talked to his high school coach, Joe Prud'homme.
I also ranked the Zips' top 10 recruits. It's not posted on the Buchtelite's site, but it went like this... 1. David Harvey, 2. Andre Boone, 3. Sean Hakes, 4. Mark Jackson, 5. Aaris Reed, 6. Igor Iveljic, 7. D.J. Henderson, 8. Derron Smith, 9. Jason Sekinger, 10. Mickey Baker.
