Zips take long way home

Men's basketball

Some of the Zips traveling party is just now arriving from Lubbock, Texas.

After the main flight got cancelled. The 25 people in their party needed to find a new way home.

Groups got rerouted to New York City, Charlotte and Indianapolis. It's a good thing Akron has a light schedule for the next two weeks. This kind of thing can hurt a team's practice schedule.

  • Assistant coach Jeff Boals told me about these escapades. He was disappointed in the loss to Arkansas-Little Rock, mainly because the Zips missed so many dunks (three) and free throws (10).

  • The university doesn't seem concerned with changing the time of the Tiffin game. It's a 2 p.m. on Sunday -- which is an hour after the Browns-Steelers game starts. D'oh!

  • My buddy Tom Gaffney wrote a good feature about Romeo Travis.
