Zips tower over Gardner-Webb
Men's basketball
You were looking at a completely different team tonight compared to Monday.
Maybe it was because Arkansas-Little Rock had one of the nation's best rebounders and Gardner-Webb allowed Akron to dominate the boards.
Whatever it was, the Zips feasted upon the Bulldogs in a 89-61 win at the CBE Classic.
Almost everything Akron stuggled with on Monday was a strength tonight. The Zips won the rebounding battle, played better defense and limited turnovers.
I don't have the stats in front of me yet, but Romeo Travis, Quade Milum, Jeremiah Wood and even Chris McKnight played strong in the post.
Since Akron lost Monday, however, the Zips are finished in the CBE Classic, which could have been a giant RPI boost. The team will play a once-tentatively scheduled game against Tiffin on Sunday at 2 p.m.
