By George Thomas Published: July 11, 2013

University of Akron volleyball head coach Ron Arenz announced two additions to his staff this week. Allison Kearney has been named assistant coach and Cedric Chrisostome will join the program for its 2013 campaign as a volunteer assistant coach.

Kearney comes to Akron after a decorated playing career at Arkansas State University and Bowling Green. The Wooster, Ohio native was the starting setter for three seasons at ASU, finishing her career as the school's fourth all-time assists leader with 3,252. Kearney was a two-time All-Sunbelt Conference honoree with the RedWolves, graduating in 2013 with a bachelor of science in English.

Arenz and his new staff will hold the Zips' first practice of the season on Saturday, Aug. 10 to begin preparations for the season-opening tournament at Southern Illinois Edwardsville. UA is slated to play a doubleheader on Saturday, Aug. 31, against Indiana State (12:00 p.m. ET) and SIUE (7:30 p.m.)
