Zips win at Detroit
Men's basketball
Akron tightened up on defense and shot 56 percent in the second half to close out a 77-69 win at Detroit.
Nik Cvetinovic led Akron tonight. He had 18 points, seven rebounds and four steals. The Titans had a difficult time with 20 turnovers.
The Zips continue their Horizon League tour, stopping next at Illinois-Chicago for a 4 p.m. game on Saturday. It will be their fourth consecutive game against a foe from the Horizon League.
Football
Shawn Lemon is Akron's only player on the All-MAC teams, earning Second-Team honors.
I'm a little surprised that Brian Wagner did not get any recognition, but when you're 1-11, you can't complain. Wagner was fourth in the league in tackles.
Miami and Northern Illinois will play Friday at 7 p.m. for the MAC Championship.
Men's soccer
I plan to liveblog from the Elite Eight game on Saturday at 4 p.m. against Cal.
Be prepared for my awesome grasp on soccer terminology.
