Zips women's hoops: King lost for the season

By George Thomas Published: October 22, 2013

From a University Akron news release:  University of Akron women's basketball head coach Jodi Kest announced on Tuesday that senior forward Sina King will sit out the 2013-14 season due to medical reasons.

King is currently being treated and monitored for blood clots, which will sideline her for at least six months. Her condition will be re-evaluated at the end of the scheduled treatment period.

"The health of our student-athletes is always our top priority," said Kest. "Sina has been instrumental to our recent success, and although her presence on the court will be missed, she will remain an integral part of our program. "

Last season, King averaged 15.0 points and 8.7 rebounds per game for the Zips. She was a third-team All-Mid-American Conference selection and led Akron with 14 double-doubles.
