APS hires Kemp Boyd to coach Kenmore football team

By Michael Beaven Published: February 19, 2014

The Akron Public Schools has hired Kemp Boyd to be the head football coach at Kenmore High School.

Boyd takes over a Cardinals team that went 3-7 overall and 3-3 in the City Series last year under first-year coach Jason Knapp, who resigned earlier this year.

“Kemp was the defensive coordinator for Ricky Powers at Buchtel and prior to that he served as the linebacker coach at Canton McKinley,” said Joe Howard, the APS Program Manager of Interscholastic Athletics.

“He’s a great guy and he knows his football. I am looking for good things from Kemp and his staff at Kenmore.”
