Buchtel's Kachay Hullum headed to Ohio State

Buchtel High School senior Kachay Hullum will continue her track and field career at Ohio State University, Griffins coach John Scott said.

Hullum has experience at the state meet as a Buchtel and Firestone runner.

Hullum helped the Griffins win the Division II state team title as a freshman in 2007 by finishing third in the 400 meters and running the anchor leg of the 1600 relay that placed first.

Hullum then transferred to Firestone and competed for the Falcons as a sophomore and junior. She finished third at the Division I state meet in the 100 in 2008 and also qualified in the 200. Injuries limited her during her two years at Firestone.

Scott said her primary events this year at Buchtel are the 200, 400, 800 relay and 1600 relay.

"Obviously, the main thing is we are happy that Kachay is back at Buchtel and that she is healthy," Scott said. "She is the only senior on the roster and she provides leadership by example. She is an integral part of the team."
