The Akron City Series had three football players sign national letter of intent’s to play for a Division I school on Wednesday: Firestone seniors Kevin Gladney and Jerome Lane, and Kenmore senior Deon’tae Moore.
Gladney is headed to the University of Nebraska. Lane and Moore pledged to the University of Akron.
“I think this is great for them,” Firestone coach Tim Flossie said regarding Gladney and Lane. “It takes some pressure off of them and a lot of other guys. There is so much going on with coaches talking to you and other people talking to you. It’s over. It’s done. They have signed and they are going to school. That is the best thing for them.”
Ed Peltz, who recently stepped down as Kenmore coach, said he is thrilled to see Moore continue his career in college.
Gladney plays wide receiver. Lane and Moore both play linebacker. Lane also plays running back and Moore is a wide receiver and tight end.
Gladney and Lane are currently playing on the Firestone boys basketball team
