The high school football season is in Week 9, and according to the state computer rankings, the area would have 20 playoff teams if the postseason started this weekend.
The area schools who are among the top eight in their region are:
In Division I: GlenOak, Massillon, Nordonia, Canton McKinley, Hudson and North Canton Hoover.
In Division II: Tallmadge, Aurora, Kent Roosevelt and Copley.
In Division III: Ravenna, St. Vincent-St. Mary, Woodridge and Marlington.
In Division IV: Streetsboro, Norwayne, Northwestern and Manchester.
In Division V: St. Thomas Aquinas.
In Division VI: Mogadore.
Mogadore has mathematically clinched a playoff spot, according to www.joeeitel.com.
The Wildcats, Marlington Dukes and Norwayne Bobcats are the three remaining undefeated teams in the area. Norwayne won the Division IV state championship last season.
Brunswick (Division I), Ellet (Division II) and Tuslaw (Division IV) are each sitting in the ninth position in their respective region.
