Garfield (0-1) at Green (0-1)
7 p.m. Friday at Green Memorial Stadium

Storyline: Its odd to call a week 2 game a “must win,” but that is position Green appears to be in this week against Garfield. If they lose and they are 0-2 heading into a week three match up with Federal league power GlenOak. The Suburban League schedule begins the following week.

In order to avoid that scenario they will also have to overcome injury. Senior quarterback Jon Cundiff was taken to the hospital during last week’s game and is questionable this week with a deep bruise on his ribs.

They will also need to tackle much better then last week when Lake senior Jim Luther rushed for four touchdowns and 162 yards against them. Luther also had a defensive touchdown.

The athleticism doesn’t get any easier this week against Garfield. What tight end Kevin Brewton lacks in speed, compared to Luther anyways, he makes up for on brute strength, as evidenced in his 17-yard touchdown reception in last week’s 30-13 loss to Hoban, where he bulldozed his way to the end zone.
