Garfield prepares for East

Garfield (2-4) plays East (1-5) at noon Saturday and Rams coach Bob Sax said Garfield must play fundamentally sound on both sides of the ball and play for four quarters.

"East is a very aggressive team with weapons on offense," Sax said. "...They have shown that they can play with anyone."

Sax said he believes the Rams are much better than their record. Garfield lost to St. Vincent-St. Mary 28-0 last week.

"I know it is hard to tell from our record, but I feel we have gotten better the last couple of weeks," Sax said. "St. V-M is a very good football team and I felt we played with them for three quarters. Unfortunately we decided to not play in the first quarter and were down 21-0."

Sax said he's encouraged the Rams to focus during the home stretch of the season.

"I told the team to regroup for the final four weeks and let's take one game at a time," Sax said. "Our goal is to make sure we finish at least second in the league and we can do that by taking care of business one week at a time."
