Hit No. 4 is a home run for Buckeye's Tom Metheney

By Michael Beaven Published: May 19, 2013

Buckeye senior Tom Metheney entered last week with three hits in 15 at bats this season. His primary role is to play first base as a defensive replacement late in games.

Metheney’s fourth hit of the season turned into a memorable one when he smacked a solo walk-off home run in the seventh inning Tuesday to lift the host Bucks over visiting St. Vincent-St. Mary 8-7 in Akron Division II sectional final. It was Metheney's first home run at any level of baseball.

Buckeye plays Archbishop Hoban at 2 Monday in a district semifinal at Summit Lake Park’s George Sisler Field. Tallmadge and Field will play in the other district semifinal at 5 Monday.
