Walsh Jesuit's Connor Regan commits to Buffalo for baseball

By Michael Beaven Published: July 31, 2014

Walsh Jesuit senior baseball player Connor Regan has made a commitment to continue his academic and athletic careers at the University at Buffalo.

Regan, a catcher, has been on Walsh’s varsity baseball team since his freshman year and played a role on the Warriors 2014 team the posted an undefeated regular season. The Warriors were also ranked No. 3 in the CBS MaxPreps Xcellent 50 national baseball rankings in 2014, and the 2013 and 2014 teams won North Coast League Blue Division championships. Walsh’s 2014 season ended with a loss to Hudson in a Division I district final following two seasons in a row in which the Warriors lost to Twinsburg in the postseason.

Regan finished 2014 with a batting average of .438, one home run and 19 runs batted in.

“What a luxury it is for our program to have someone as versatile as Connor Regan in our lineup,” Walsh coach Chris Kaczmar said.

The “itch to coach” started for John Allen Stewart when he was playing football at Firestone High School.

Assistant coaching positions with Buchtel and Chippewa followed during his adult years, and now he is continuing to scratch that itch as head football coach at North.

Stewart, who is 39, graduated from Firestone in 1994. He played running back and defensive back for the Falcons after attending Buchtel for two years.

He has always loved football and is appreciative for the chance to coach the Vikings.
