Kent Roosevelt senior Mylane Bella-Smuts has committed to John Carroll University to continue her academic and volleyball careers.

Bella-Smuts, who is 5-foot-4, is an honors student and has a 4.0 grade-point average. She plays setter and defensive specialist, and plans to major in accounting.

“The first time I visited John Carroll, I knew it was the perfect school for me,” Bella-Smuts said. “It is a great place for me to excel in an accounting career and I already know that the people there will be like a second family to me.”

Bella-Smuts helped the Rough Riders to a 22-3 overall record as a senior under coach Tracy Reschke. Roosevelt won the Portage Trail Conference Metro Division title and finished as Division I district runner-up to Hudson at Stow.
