Kent State after Bishop Fenwick QB

The Kent State football program has offered a scholarship to Bishop Fenwick quarterback Austin Gearing, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Gearing, who is 6 feet 5 and 205 pounds, is one of the top players in Southwest Ohio in the 2012 class. Gearing also has offers from Cincinnati, Miami (Ohio) and Toledo.

Gearing helped lead Fenwick to a 7-3 record last season. Fenwick is a Division IV program in the Greater Catholic League North division.

Gearing is being recruited as an athlete by several schools. His versatility allows him to play quarterback or be a tight end in college. Gearing is known for his physical strength and toughness in the weight room and on the field.

Gearing threw for 1,026 yards and five touchdowns last season. He rushed for 631 yards and 14 touchdowns.
