Lake senior Tyler Straley signed a national letter of intent to further his education and baseball careers at Malone University.

Straley, who is 6-foot, is the Blue Streaks ace right-handed pitcher.

“Tyler has really worked hard to put himself in the position to play at the next level,” Lake coach Mike Parker said. “He is a leader who loves the game of baseball. I am excited for the opportunities that lay ahead for him as he keeps progressing as a pitcher along the way.”

Lake athletic director Bruce Brown said Straley is 6-0 this season and leads the team in innings pitched with 47. He has struck out 66 opponents, allowed 20 walks and has an ERA of 1.50.

“Tyler is the perfect student-athlete for Malone University and our baseball program,” Malone coach Tom Crank said. “He comes from a great family and has a great work ethic that will help him adapt to the college game on the mound. We are very excited to have him be a part of our family. We feel he will be an outstanding pitcher for us as soon as he steps on campus.”
