Lineup changes put Firestone on path to victories

By Michael Beaven Published: February 7, 2013

Coach Dave Milo guided the Firestone boys basketball team to its first City Series regular season championship since the 2007-2008 season.

Senior forwards Jerome Lane and Kevin Gladney are the Falcons (12-7, 11-1) top two scorers and rebounders.

Milo said he has used six different starting lineups this season with nine different players.

“I like the current starting lineup the best with Jerome Lane, Kevin Gladney, Evan Kennerly, Jae’Quan Jones and Miles Kirk,” Milo said. “Ja’Tice Shaw is our sixth man. He has been playing very well recently coming off the bench. He could start on a lot of teams. And our freshman, Raybon Lewis, is also playing well for us.”

Kennerly, Jones and Kirk are juniors. Shaw is a senior.

“I tell the kids you never know when your time is going to come,” Milo said. “You have to be ready to play at all times.”
