Jamar Dukes, a 2013 Manchester graduate has committed to play basketball at the University of Mount Union.

Dukes is 6-foot-5 and 185 pounds.

“I think that he got that opportunity because of the great strides he made between his junior and senior year,” Manchester basketball coach Gene Schindewolf said. “He dedicated himself to the game and that really opened up that opportunity for him. I think his best days are ahead of him. He got in the weight room and got stronger, and I see him continuing to get stronger. . . He got serious about the game, and when Jamar gets serious about the game, he is pretty good.”

Dukes also made an impact in football as a wide receiver and defensive back.

“Jamar is probably one of the most athletic kids we have had at Manchester during my time,” Manchester football coach Jim France said. “He will do well in college.”
