Minerva receiver getting attention from Louisville

Minerva junior tight end/wide receiver Kyle Crum isn’t related to former Louisville men’s basketball coach Denny Crum, but Minerva football coach Brett Yeagley has been asked that question more than once.

The University of Louisville was the first school to offer Kyle, but he is no relation to Denny. “It is a coincidence since it is not a common last name,” Yeagley said.

Kyle, who is 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, is one of the state’s top players in the 2012 class. He ran a 4.53 40-yard dash time at the Cleveland Browns High School Combine Feb. 27.

Yeagley said college programs like how Kyle can create separation vertically down the field.

“With his size he is a tough matchup for smaller corners and with his speed he is a tough cover for outside linebackers and strong safeties,” Yeagley said. “Also this is only Kyle’s third year of playing football so he still has an outstanding upside to him.”

Yeagley said Kent State, Kentucky, Akron, Toledo and Pittsburgh have also expressed interest in Kyle.
