Seniors Nick Jaworski and Nick Medwetz each played starring roles in Twinsburg’s 1-0 baseball victory over host Walsh Jesuit in a Division I sectional final Friday.

Jaworski, a right-hander, tossed a complete-game shutout and also batted in Medwetz for the lone run. Medwetz hit a triple prior to scoring.

Twinsburg defeated visiting Copley 6-2 in a sectional semifinal Thursday. The Tigers, who started the season 6-6, play Brunswick in a Division I district semifinal game at 4:30 Thursday at Hudson.

“We’ve just been playing well lately,” Twinsburg coach Donald R. Jones said. “We were 6-6 at one point this season and now we are 20-9 going into the game with Brunswick.”

Tigers senior Jalen Washington hit a solo home run and a two-run double against Copley. Jones said other consistent players have been seniors Cooper Rea, Dylan Gugliotta, Brady Haba and Ed Govang, junior Dan McMullen and sophomore Mitch Eglar.

Hudson and Highland will play in the other district semifinal after Twinsburg and Brunswick complete their game.
