Orrville football coach Doug Davault said he was proud of the fact that his squad overcame adversity and was very physical in a 41-27 win over visiting Northwest in the season opener last week.

“We had a lot of guys step up,” Davault said. Davault mentioned several players including linebacker Mason Monheim, running back/linebacker Drew Brenner, lineman Trevor White, offensive lineman/linebacker Trevor Summers and wide receiver/defensive back Stewart Turner among others.

Orrville is at Triway at 7 p.m. Friday. Orrville (1-0) needs one win to give Davault his 50th career win. He is in his sixth season with the Red Riders.

“Triway will be like they were last year minus some big departures, but still with good athletes,” Davault said. “They play hard and are well-coached. We’ll have to play well, hopefully clean-up some of our problem areas from last week. As always, the key to the game will start up front.”
