Orrville seeks to control Ashland

Orrville hosts Ashland in a Ohio Cardinal Conference showdown game tonight.]ep

Each team is 3-0 in the OCC. Ashland is 5-1 overall and Orrville is 4-2.]ep

The Red Riders defeated West Holmes 42-0 last Friday behind touchdowns by juniors Cody Rice and T’ontre Simpson.]ep

Simpson rushed for 137 yards on 16 carries behind offensive linemen: Derek Vance, Daniel Groves, Victor Monheim, Vincent Monheim and Sam Reusser.]ep

“The field was a muddy mess, but we did a nice job of playing through the elements,” Orrville coach Doug Davault said. “We are doing really good defensively and have have continued to improve. We run the ball well and are good at stopping the run. You try on both sides of the ball to control the line of scrimmage, and we have been.”]ep

West Holmes gained just 40 yards of total offense, which pleased Davault.]ep

“We did a good job of disrupting what they wanted to do,” he said.]ep

Seniors J.T. Mosley, Alex Markley, Dennis Raber and Chase Hoobler guided the Orrville defense.]ep
