Orrville wants to improve upon its passing game

The Orrville football team plays host to Triway at 7 p.m. Friday and Orrville coach Doug Davault says his squad wants to prevent the big play and maintain its discipline on defense.

"Offensively, we need to get our passing game going and be more two-dimensional," Davault said. "We're just trying to practice and get better every day."

Orrville (1-0) defeated host Northwest 24-22 in the season opener last week.

"I liked the fact we hung in there," Davault said. "We did not play very well but we found a way to stay in the game and gave ourselves a chance to win."

Davault credited defensive players Derek Graber, Trevor White and Sam Reusser as having a strong effort. Tre Simpson played well on offense.

Triway is led by QB Derek Carmichael, who is one of the area's top quarterbacks.

"They throw the ball all over the place and distribute it among all the wide receivers plus they run it well," Davault said.
