Perry defeats Holland Springfield 5-0 in DI softball semifinal

Shelbi Tilton's RBI single and Jayla Saibene hit a two-run double into the gap in right center field in a three-run fourth inning and  Perry goes on to defeat Holland Springfield  5-0 lead at the Division I softball state semifinal at Firestone Stadium.

Panther pitcher Casi Rohr finished strong, retiring 12 straight batters and the final trio on strikeouts. Rohr, a junior, had 10 strikeouts and gave up just three hits  and two walks, both in the first inning.

Perry right fielder Kourtney Yarnall hit an opposite field home run over the right field fence in the bottom of the third inning to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead .

Perry designated player Morgan McLaughlin scored from third base on a wild pitch in the bottom of the second inning for a  1-0 lead.

The Panthers (26-3)  plays in the championship game 1 p.m. Saturday at Firestone against the winner of today's 6 p.m. game with Liberty Township Lakota West (26-5) and Grove City (27-4).
