No. 8 Medina (8-2) at No. 1 Canton McKinley (8-2)
Division I, region 2
Where: 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Fawcett Stadium

STORYLINE: Medina qualified for the playoffs for just the second time in school history, and have a date with perennial power Canton McKinley to show for it. Lucky them.

Medina’s Mr. Everything, Justin Letts, will return from a five-game suspension. Letts had played quarterback, receiver and a slew of other positions for the Bees before violating team rules.

But losses to Solon and Strongsville this season aren’t good indicators of success against McKinley.

There is no mistaking the talent The Bulldogs puts on the field, but there are often questions as to how much they live up to said talent.

Under coach Ron Johnson, The Bulldogs always seem to turn it on as the season progresses and back-to-back losses to Lake and Fitch, both playoff teams, early in the season certainly seemed to motivate them.

They have also unveiled some new offensive wrinkles as the season progressed.

Senior quarterback Kyle Ohradzansky is running the ball much more confidently and frequently.

In the last two games Ohradzansky has rushed for 101 yards in each game.

Against Massillon last week he had touchdown runs of 24 and 36 yards, and threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Malcolm Robinson. He threw three touchdowns the week before against Boardman.

It’s just one more thing defenses have to be aware of from a team with a Division I caliber running back in Elijah Farrakhan, and a plethora of other offensive options.

Beacon picks:
Michael Beaven: Canton McKinley
Jonas Fortune: Canton McKinley
Jim Isabella: Canton McKinley
George Thomas: Canton McKinley
