Here are some additional thoughts, facts and quotes from Revere's boys basketball win at Buchtel on Tuesday night:
The Revere boys basketball team won its school-record 19th game of the season Tuesday with a 67-58 victory over host Buchtel.
Revere (19-1) handled the Buchtel (17-3) defensive pressure with poise and never trailed in the regular season finale for each team.
``The kids knew it was a big game, but we didn't want to make it bigger than it was,´´ Revere coach Dean Rahas said. ``Different guys stepped up.´´
Senior Eric Smith led the Minutemen with 19 points, and senior Larry Nance scored 18 points and grabbed 14 points.
``Coach told us to focus on the fundamentals,´´ Nance said. ``We needed to make sharp passes, box out and rebound.´´
The Minutemen held a 38-29 rebounding advantage due to the height of senior Connor Edel (6-foot-8), Nance (6-foot-7) and Smith (6-foot-5).
Seniors DJ Bettinger and Ryan Wonders provided steady guard play for Revere, scoring 13 points and 10 points, respectively.
``We just wanted to make sure we brought a lot of energy to the game,´´ Bettinger said. ``Buchtel brings a lot of energy and we knew we had to too. They play really tough defense. We didn't want to get rattled while handling the ball and we tried to make plays.´´
