Rittman football attempts to win and snap streak

By mikeb Published: August 25, 2009

Rittman returns 10 starters and looks to snap a 27-game losing streak.

"Obviously the goal is to just get the monkey off our back," Indians first-year coach Brent Besancon said. "That is a quote I am using with the team. We want
to change the mindset and get them playing with confidence."

Seniors Levi Swisher, David Lloyd, Travis Vanderhoof, Sly Lloyd, Orey Wiggans, Mike Walls and Barrett Gasser will be counted on to lead a turn around for Rittman. Juniors Tim Fargo, Brandon Bauman and Kevin Dotterer should also play pivotal roles.

Besancon, a dairy farmer, previously was head coach at New London in
2007 and 2008, and prior to that was an assistant coach at Smithville for 14 years. New London posted a 14-56 record the seven years before Besancon arrived, and led to a 6-4 mark in 2008. Rittman last made the playoffs in 2005.
