Massillon junior WR Devin Smith (6-2, 175) has reportedly added an offer from Wisconsin, according to ScoutingOhio.com.

Smith also reportedly has offers from Boston College, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Toledo, Cincinnati, Indiana, Miami (Ohio), Bowling Green, Ball State, Michigan State and Michigan, according to the website.

EA Sports Elite 11 QB Camp

Walsh Jesuit junior QB Connor Cook is on the roster for the EA Sports Elite 11 Quarterback Camp at Ohio State's Woody Hayes Athletic Complex from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday in Columbus.

Several other quarterbacks from the East Coast are expected to participate. Cook has orally committed to Michigan State.

Gulley played well in North-South game

Garfield senior RB Tyson Gulley had a 20-yard run in the fourth quarter and some tough 5-yard carries in the annual North-South Game on Friday night in Columbus, according to Garfield coach Bob Sax. Gulley has signed with Syracuse.

"Tyson played well in the game," Sax said in an e-mail.

Shimensky, a 5-foot-11, 182-pound quarterback, is an honors student at Roosevelt.

In the girls' lacrosse ratings, Medina is rated No. 1 in the state. Hudson is No. 6.

Report: Kent Roosevelt QB commits

Kent Roosevelt junior QB Evan Shimensky orally committed to Kent State on Sunday, reports The Plain Dealer.

Shimensky threw for 1,517 yards and 19 touchdowns and rushed for 483 yards and six touchdowns last season, according to the publication.

Lake's Konz selected by Seahawks with 245th pick

The Seattle Seahawks drafted Hartville native Jameson Konz in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft with the 245th selection.

Konz is 6-foot-3 and 234-pounds and played football at Lake High School and Kent State University. He possesses a vertical leap of 46 inches and has run a 4.41-second 40-yard dash.

Twinsburg's Mesko drafted by Patriots with 150th pick

The New England Patriots drafted Twinsburg native Zoltan Mesko in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft with the 150th selection.

Mesko, a 6-foot-4 and 240 pound left-footed punter from the University of Michigan, led the Big 10 in 2009 with 52 punts for an average of 44.5 yards, a long of 66 yards and 15 inside the opponents 20-yard line.

Walsh Jesuit baseball ranked No. 1 in country

The Walsh Jesuit High School baseball team received the No. 1 overall ranking in the country for the first time in program history.

The Xcellent 25 Poll conducted by CBSSports/Maxpreps tabbed Walsh as the No. 1 team in the nation with a 12-0 record entering Thursday. Kevin Askeland of Maxpreps organized the poll.

Greynolds resigns as GlenOak boys basketball coach

Basketball coach Jack Greynolds Jr. submitted his resignation to the Plain Local Board of Education at their meeting Wednesday night.

Greynolds has been GlenOak High School's head basketball coach for the past seven years, including a trip to the Divison I state semifinals in 2007.

Cleveland State to host national wrestling event

Cleveland State University’s Wolstein Center will host the U.S. Open and FILA Junior National Wrestling Championships from April 22-25.

The U.S. Open (Senior) Wrestling Championships takes place Friday and Saturday and the men’s Junior FILA Cadet National Championships is Thursday and Sunday.

Canton McKinley to play on ESPNU

The Canton McKinley football team will play Huber Heights Wayne in the Kirk Herbstreit Varsity Football Series on Sunday, Sept. 5 at Ohio Stadium at 3:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPNU.

McKinley features senior-to-be defensive end Steve Miller, who has orally committed to Ohio State.

More on Pirman's commitment to Indiana

As we reported earlier, Orrville junior LB Max Pirman orally committed to Indiana this past weekend. Orrville coach Doug DaVault said Pirman enjoyed the campus environment and the Indiana coaches so he decided to commit.

Pirman, who is 6 feet 5 and 220 pounds, had nine scholarship offers, including the latest offer from Kansas. DaVault said Nebraska was scheduled to visit northeast Ohio this week and Duke was very interested.

Medina names Laird football coach

Medina High School recently named Larry Laird as its head football coach.

Laird served as Avon Lake’s associate head coach and offensive coordinator for the past nine years. He helped the Shormen to seven state playoff appearances in the past eight years, including a state runner-up appearance in 2004 and a state championship in 2003.

Pruner named Big Ten Player of the Week

Ohio State University senior softball player Courtney Pruner recently earned a Big Ten Player of the Week honor after she went 6-for-7 at bat with seven RBI and three runs scored in a two-game series split with Illinois in Champaign.

Pruner, an Ellet High School graduate, hit two home runs, including a grand slam in Ohio State's 10-2 victory in game two of the series Sunday. She also made a critical diving catch in right field in the bottom of the second inning to limit the Illini to just one run in game two.

CVCA's Tomasello wins FILA Cadet National title

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy freshman Nathan Tomasello won a FILA Cadet Nationals championship in freestyle wrestling on Sunday at the University of Akron's Stile Field House.

Tomasello defeated Jacob Schmitt of Michigan in the final to win the 101.25-pound weight class. The victory allows Tomasello to possibly compete in the upcoming Pan American Qualifier in Mexico and the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Singapore.

Hoover's Veldhuizen headed to Malone

North Canton Hoover senior Cory Veldhuizen recently signed a national letter of intent to attend Malone University and play basketball for the Pioneers.

Veldhuizen, a 6-foot-5 forward, was a three-year basketball lettermen for the Vikings. He was named first-team All-Federal League, first-team All-Northeast Inland District Team, third-team All-Ohio and helped Hoover to a Federal League and district championship in 2009 along with a runner-up appearance in 2010.

Archbishop Hoban High School has named Brian Misanko as girls soccer coach for 2010.

Misanko was an assistant coach for the girls varsity soccer team and the head junior varsity coach in 2006-2009. He guided Hoban's junior varsity to a 34-13-11 record the past four seasons.

Farrah resigns as Louisville football coach

Paul Farrah resigned Thursday as Louisville High School's football coach.

Farrah is a 1984 Louisville High School graduate. He took over the Louisville football team in 1999 and led the Leopards to the Division II state championship game in 2007, where they lost to Cincinnati Anderson.
