The third annual LeBron James Classic is set for this weekend at St. Vincent-St. Mary.
The Classic is slated to benefit the LeBron James Family Foundation, and is sponsored by the Akron Hilton, Goodyear, AMEX, Dr. Mike Magoline and Crystal Clinic.
James, 31, is an Akron native who graduated from St. V-M in 2003 as a three-time state champion in basketball and has become a star with the Cavaliers and Heat. James is a 12-time NBA all-star who has won three NBA championships, three NBA Finals MVP awards, four NBA MVP awards and two Olympic gold medals.
The Classic is set to feature 10 high school games, five on Saturday and five on Sunday. It is important to note that all game times after the first game each day are approximate.
The Saturday schedule is all boys games, including Cleveland Benedictine vs. Youngstown Ursuline at noon, Middletown vs. Brush at 2 p.m., Cleveland Heights vs. Gahanna Lincoln at 4 p.m., Canton McKinley vs. Toledo St. John’s at 6 p.m. and St. V-M vs. Evanston (Ill.) at 8 p.m.
The Sunday schedule begins with a boys game, Pickerington North vs. Evanston (Ill) at noon, and a girls game, St. V-M vs. Westerville South at 2 p.m. The final three games Sunday are all boys matchups with Westerville South vs. Garfield Heights at 4 p.m., St. V-M vs. Warren Harding at 6 p.m. and Walsh Jesuit vs. Brunswick at 8 p.m.
Tickets are available for one day ($12 for adults, $8 for student) or for two days ($20 for adults, $12 for students). The Swensons food truck is scheduled to be in attendance.
St. V-M is led by senior guards Jayvon Graves and John Williams.
