STVM wins fifth consecutive Division II state title in girls cross country

HEBRON: The St. Vincent-St. Mary girls cross country team won its fifth Division II state team championship in a row Saturday.

Sophomore Rachel Iacofano placed sixth and senior Julia Mendiola finished 10th to guide the Fighting Irish at National Trail Raceway.

Woodridge senior Madison Spreitzer was the highest area placer in the Division II race at sixth and the Bulldogs placed third as a team. Bay was second. Spreitzer completed the 3.1-mile course in 18 minutes and 49.3 seconds.

St. Thomas Aquinas placed fourth in the Division III race.

Brunswick finished sixth in the Division I race and Nordonia was ninth.

The three boys races will be held this afternoon.
