Tallmadge moving forward

By jcfortun Published: September 23, 2009

The excuse of being a youthful team simply doesn’t apply to Tallmadge anymore.

``Its midway through the season now. You can’t say you’re a young team anymore,’’ Tallmadge coach Joe Vassalotti said. ``Now we have to learn how to win.’’

Easier said than done.

Tallmadge led Highland last week until the Hornets rattled off 24 straight points to claim the 31-23 victory.

The Blue Devils are moving forward though. Freshman Anthony Gotto has solidified the quarterback position. Gotto is advanced in terms of how he understands the game and makes good decisions, Vassalotti said.

Vassalotti also likes his poise.

Sophomore Tucker Linder was the offensive and defensive player of the week for the Blue Devils last week. He made five catches for 60 yards and a touchdown on offense and recorded two sacks on defense.
