Tallmadge seniors commit to UA, YSU, UMU for football

Tallmadge coach Joe Vassalotti said three seniors made their college decisions.

Blue Devils tight end Jacob Wood committed to Youngstown State, quarterback Anthony Gotto pledged to the University of Akron as a preferred walk-on and linebacker Logan Banks is headed to the University of Mount Union.

“I am happy for all three guys,” Vassalotti said. “Jacob Wood, he has played both ways as a full-time starter for two years. What Jake does well, besides his intellect, is that he blocks very well. Youngstown State likes that about him.

“Anthony has been a 4-year starter. We always felt he had Division I potential. I am really glad that Akron was sincere with their interest. I think it is a good fit and he has a chance to earn a scholarship. Logan is probably the hardest hitting linebacker on our team. . . . Mount Union’s winning tradition was attractive to him. He loves football and has such a passion for the game.”

Vassalotti said Blue Devils senior wide receiver/defensive back Bryon Cook is expected to make a decision on his college future soon.
