Wadsworth, Austintown Fitch set to host wrestling tournaments

The 28th annual Grizzly Invitational Wrestling Tournament is set for Saturday at Wadsworth High School and the Josh Hephner Memorial Wrestling Tournament will be held Friday and Saturday at Austintown Fitch.

Area schools Buckeye, GlenOak, Field, North Canton Hoover and Wadsworth are among 16 teams scheduled to compete at Wadsworth.

Wadsworth is seeking its 13th team title in a row in the event and 19th overall. Ryle (Ky.) is also entered in the event and was runner-up last year.

Wrestling starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at Wadsworth with preliminary action. The semifinals will be begin at approximately 1 p.m., the matches to determine ninth through 16th will take place between 2 and 5 p.m. and the finals (first through eighth) will be start at 6 p.m.

The Hephner Tournament starts at 4 p.m. Friday at Fitch and continues at 9 a.m. Saturday. The finals are set for 6 p.m. Saturday.

Area teams scheduled to compete are: Canton South, Copley, Jackson, Lake, Louisville, Marlington, Medina, Mogadore, North Royalton, Ravenna, Southeast, Springfield, Tallmadge and St. Vincent-St. Mary.
