Wadsworth set to host boys basketball all-star game Wednesday

The Greater Akron Basketball Coaches Association is holding its 27th annual GABCA Boys All-Star Game Wednesday at Wadsworth High School.

The free throw, slam dunk, and 3-point shooting contest finals will begin at 6 p.m. and the all-star game will start at 7 p.m. All tickets are sold at the door and are $2 for students and $3 for adults.

Participants in the game are:

National Team – Jacob Slone, Josh Ricker and Angelo Cugini of Cuyahoga Falls, Daniel Sapp of Streetsboro, Jordan Holtkamp of Revere, Kyle Prunty of Wadsworth, O’Shay Vinson of Kenmore, Carson Corle of Green, Justin Blanks of Norton, Matt Beech and Jacob Williams of Stow.

American Team – Casey Ruppel of Mogadore, Jake Fisher, Jake Williams and Dionte Williams of Ellet, Myles Wright of Kent Roosevelt, Anthony Workman of Garrettsville, Christian Waite of Archbishop Hoban, Jordan Krych of Southeast, Kevin Zullo of Hudson, Evan Kennerly of Firestone and Kenyon Philpott of East.

The GABCA will also give out its yearly awards. The Senior Player of the Year is Matt Beech of Stow, the Underclassman of the Year is Andrew Francesconi of Tallmadge and the Co-Coaches of the Year are Mark Fisher of Ellet and Rob Slone of Cuyahoga Falls.

Former Cleveland Plain Dealer writer Tim Rogers will also be presented with the Community Service Award. Rogers currently serves as a freelance reporter for the Akron Beacon Journal, the Canton Repository and
