Walsh Jesuit baseball team reaches 20-win plateau again

The Walsh Jesuit baseball team upped its record to 20-0 overall and 6-0 in the North Coast League Blue Division with a 5-0 win Tuesday over visiting Mentor Lake Catholic.

Walsh coach Chris Kaczmar said junior Ty Shoaff, a University of Missouri recruit, pitched six shutout innings and struck out 10 to get the victory. Shoaff allowed two hits and improved to 6-0 on the year as the Warriors reached the 20-win plateau for the 17th time in the past 18 years. Walsh junior Connor Regan pitched a perfect seventh inning.

Warriors junior Azim Qadri had three hits in the game, including two doubles and a run batted in. Senior Nate Romans, an Ohio State recruit, had two hits, including an RBI double. Sophomore Dominic Canzone and senior Kyle Holdsworth, an Ashland recruit, also hit RBI singles.

Junior Blake Jenkins hit two home runs in Walsh’s 10-1 win at Mentor Lake Catholic on Monday. Jenkins has six home runs this season. Junior Dominic Mittiga had three hits and junior Ryan Feltner, an Ohio State recruit, pitched five innings to improve to 5-0.
