Walsh Jesuit senior Azim Qadri commits to Ohio State for baseball

By Michael Beaven Published: August 26, 2014

Walsh Jesuit senior baseball player Azim Qadri has made a commitment to continue his academic and athletic career at Ohio State University.

Qadri, an outfielder, helped Walsh to an undefeated regular season and a No. 3 ranking in the CBS MaxPreps Xcellent 50 national rankings.  Walsh lost to Hudson in a Division I district final in May.

Qadri, a Hudson resident, played a key role on Warriors teams that won the 2013 and 2014 North Coast League Blue Division championship. He posted a batting average of .386 as a junior and led the team with a .531 batting average as a sophomore.

“What a true joy it has been having Azim Qadri as a member of Walsh Jesuit baseball for four years,” Warriors coach Chris Kaczmar said. “He has a great heart, he is an extraordinary ambassador to our program and the game of baseball, and he possesses an abundant set of tools and truly has a great deal of potential for success at the next level.

"He is trustworthy, kind, and arguably one of the most talented pure hitters that has come through the program. He is also gifted defensively, but above all I consider him a good friend whom I admire a great deal for being the person he wants to be.”
