Walsh Jesuit wins Catholic meet

The Walsh Jesuit girls track and field team won the All-Catholic meet contested on Saturday. Archbishop Hoban came in fourth place.

Walsh won seven events and scored 143.666 points.

Warriors that won individual events were: Liz Secue (400 meters), Emily Rockwell (300 hurdles), Johnna Zaccari (shot put), Georgette Asfoura (high jump) and Amber Kasmer (long jump).

Walsh's 400 relay (Darcy Riley, Colleen Mathews, Secue, Kasmer) and 3,200 relay (Hope McCarty, Rachel Burge, Allison Rowe, Rachael Thornton) also placed first.   

Walsh sophomore Chelsea Oswald has had a solid season in the distance events, yet was unable to win Saturday.

Cleveland Heights Beaumont junior Aareon Payne, an Akron native that went to Ellet for two years, won the 100 and 200 at the event.
