Martin leads Firestone to third City Series golf title in a row
Senior Philip Martin led the Firestone boys golf team to its third consecutive City Series golf championship Thursday at Mud Run Golf Course.
Martin earned the medalist honor for the third year in a row by carding a 2-under-par 66 on a course that measured 4,430 yards.

Two Cincinnati-area football players to visit Kent State
Two Cincinnati-area football players will take a visit to Kent State for the Golden Flashes’ home game against Ball State on Sept. 29, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Senior wide receiver/defensive back DeQuan Render and senior wide receiver/defensive back Jamiel Trimble will visit for the noon game.
Northwest (3-0) is one of the top Division II programs in Cincinnati this season. Render, who is 6 feet 1 and 175 pounds, was offered by Kent State in march. He has 14 tackles on defense and has six receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown on offense.
Trimble, who is 6-1 and 175, has nine receptions for 217 yards and four touchdowns this season.

Akron, Kent basketball coaches attend Cincinnati open gym
The University of Akron and Kent State basketball coaches were among those that visited the Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati this past weekend, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Akron, Kent State, Ohio University and Winthrop were in attendance at an open gym. Those schools have been interested in senior center Isaiah Johnson and senior shooting guard/small forward DJ Wingfield. Johnson and Wingfield, the son of former NBA player Dontonio Wingfield, have offers that include Akron, Kent State and Ohio.

Massillon running back reportedly adds Bowling Green offer
Massillon senior running back Kentrell Taylor has reportedly added an offer from Bowling Green, according to ScoutingOhio.com.
Taylor, who is 6 foot and 230 pounds, also reportedly has offers from Buffalo, Kent State and Toledo.

Jackson basketball player Evan Bailey rated highly by Rivals.com
Jackson junior guard Evan Bailey is ranked No. 149 nationally in the Rivals.com Top 150 basketball list for the 2014 class. The rankings were released today.
Bailey, who is listed at 6 feet 5 and 175 pounds, reportedly has interest from Kent State, Toledo, Miami (Ohio), Cleveland State and Akron, according to Rivals.com.
