-- Plain City Jonathan Alder (23-3) vs. Columbus St. Francis DeSales (19-9), Friday at 10 a.m.
-- State championship game is Saturday at 4 p.m.
Hoban notebook: Senior third baseman Kerrigan Cain leads the Knights offense with a .535 batting average (46-for-86) with 28 runs, 47 RBI and 13 doubles. Cain also has three triples, three home runs, 11 stolen bases, 12 walks and no strikeouts. . . . Senior shortstop Kolin McMillen is batting .494 with 39 hits, 37 runs and 18 RBI. . . . Senior Brendan Taylor (.390, 30 hits, 20 runs, five home runs, 32 RBI) is another top hitter along with seniors Matt Gebacz (.361, 22 hits, 13 runs, 12 RBI) and Trevor Oldham (.351, 27 hits, 27 runs, 16 RBI). . . . Seniors Lucas Sokol, Josh Young and Nate Kunce and junior Tom Yakubowski are all batting over .300. . . . Gebacz, senior Nate Prebonick and junior Nick Corbett each have four wins pitching. Gebacz has 2.30 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 42 2/3 innings. Prebonick has a 3.64 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings. . . . Hoban was Division II state runnerup in 1993 and made the state semifinals in 1987.
