Barberton goes for 500
Barberton has a chance to put itself into some elite company Friday when the school goes for its 500th career football victory against Canton Timken at Fawcett Stadium.
``If you get the opportunity to win one more and become a part of that group….That’ll be a big deal,’’ coach Brian Staats said.
And what better place to accomplish that goal then at Fawcett Stadium, just a few yards away from the Pro Football Hall of Fame?
OTHER BARBERTON NOTES
On Friday/Saturday the Magics got a boost from junior receiver Darryl Murphy, who caught four balls for 97 yards. His presence could also prove to be a nice foil to top receiver Thaddeus Ingol, an OU recruit who had a 29-yard touchdown catch of his own over the weekend.
``He really came on. He is a guy we really had our eye on few a couple years,’’ Staats said of Murphy. ``He was able to come through and make a couple big catches.’’
