Belair commits to Kent State University
Walsh Jesuit senior Brannon Belair, a left-handed pitcher, has committed to continue his academic and baseball career at Kent State University.
The 6-foot, 170-pound Belair is a two-year letter winner with the Warriors. He earned the team award for Most Improved Player following the 2007 season.
He went 3-2 with 28 strikeouts in 22 innings of work while holding opponents to a combined .212 batting average.
"Over the four years Brannon has been in our program, I would be hard pressed to identify a player who has improved more from start to finish," Walsh coach Chris Kaczmar said. "When I think back and consider how far he has come from the day he walked in the door, it is truly remarkable. I couldn't be more proud of what Brannon has accomplished in terms of his commitment to the team, to baseball, to his family, and to himself - at home and at Walsh Jesuit. He is truly an extremely talented player who combines the qualities of a skillful pitcher with a work ethic that is second to none. Above all, Brannon is truly a fine young man."
